Job Opportunity:  If you are interested in part-time employment, Wheeler Middle School is looking for classroom cleaners.  Pay is $9.25 per hour; three hours each day (beginning at 2:45 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; and at 1:30 on Wednesdays).  If you or anyone you know might be interested, please contact Teresa Morales, at 305-9000 or email: tmorales@wheelermiddle.k12.hi.us.

MONDAY, NOV 27 - THURSDAY, DEC 7:  Scholastic Book Fair hosted by PTSO.  Online shopping (at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/wheelermiddleschoolbegan November 18.  Book fair is located in Portable 7.  Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. M-F.  This Wednesday, Nov 29, the book fair will remain open until 6:00 p.m.  Check out attached pictures of the Book Fair!

Volunteers are still needed for the book fair!  Please fill out the contact form on line (http://www.scholastic.com/bf/wheelermiddleschool) if you'd like to help!

WEDNESDAY, NOV 29:  5th grade registration night!  If you have a 5th grader who will be coming to Wheeler Middle School next year, please come to our registration event, from 4:00-5:30 pm THIS WEDNESDAY!  While this registration night is only for 5th graders who will be coming to Wheeler next year, our current 6th and 7th graders will also be receiving their registration materials this week.  They will need to get stickers for their top two choices of electives and turn their cards in to their Homeroom teachers or the front office by December 13th.

SATURDAY, DEC 2:  Winter Band Concert, beginning at 6:30 pm, in our school cafeteria.  There will also be a Mexican food truck in our parking lot!  Come enjoy some great food before the concert!  Food truck will begin serving at 4:30. 

THURSDAY, DEC 7:   Talent Show auditions will be held after school on Thursday, December 7, from 2:45-4:00 pm.  The Talent Show will be held on December 21.  All interested students must sign up with Mrs. Wada-Goode, in Room C7, during recess, from November 27 - December 6. 

SATURDAY, DEC 9:  Come cheer on our basketball players, coaches, and cheerleaders as they play their first game of the season at Aiea High School!   Our teams will play against Aliamanu Middle School; games begin at 11:00 (7th grade boys), followed by 8th grade girls at 11:30, and 8th grade boys at 12:00.  

TUESDAY, DEC 12:  PTSO meeting at 3:00 pm, in the IRC (Library).

My apologies for the late email -- was taveling most of the day yesterday!

THANK YOU to those who contributed to our canned food drive!  Our Student Council received 1119 cans, exceeding their 800 can goal!

THURSDAY, NOV 23 & FRIDAY, NOV 24:  No school -- Happy Thanksgiving!

THURSDAY, NOV 23:  Join our military partner unit (3-25 Aviation Regiment) for their Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot!  All funds raised during this event will support Gold Star families of Blackjack 556 (families who lost loved ones on the helicopter that crashed in August).  Please see attached flyer for more information.

Thank you to everyone who braved the weather to come to our Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, November 11th.  We hope you enjoyed yourselves.  If you received a phone call letting you know that you won a prize from the Opportunity Drawings, please be sure to pick it up from the front office by 3:00, Friday, 11/17.  Any items not picked up by that day will be forfeited.

Check out our school's new marquee!  Please be sure to take a look as you drive into the school for updates on upcoming events!





TUESDAY, NOV 14:  Cheerleaders' yearbook pictures will be taken at the beginning of recess on the back field.  If your daughter is on the cheerleading squad, please ask her to wear her full uniform for these photos.

TUESDAY, NOV 14:  PTSO meeting at 3:00 pm in the IRC.

WEDNESDAY, NOV 15:  This will be an ODD day; students go to their odd-numbered periods, plus Homeroom and Advisory.

WEDNESDAY, NOV 15:  Spirit Day!  Students can earn spirit points for their Homeroom by wearing attire or accessories that show their favorite character from a book, movie, or anime.  Dress code will still be enforced.

WEDNESDAY, NOV 15:  Mid-quarter progress reports will be given to students during their Advisory period.  Please be sure to ask your children for their reports!

WEDNESDAY, NOV 15:  Last day to send in canned food items for our annual Thanksgiving food drive!  For every three items donated, students will receive a dunk tank ticket!  The dunk tank event will be held on Wednesday, November 22, during lunch and Advisory.  Donated items will be given to the Hawaii Food Bank and the Schofield YMCA.

WEDNESDAY, NOV 15:  Leilehua High School iNight, beginning at 5:00 pm, in the high school Library.  This is where our 8th graders (and their parents) will register for 9th grade.  Please see attached flyer for more information.

EMAIL UPDATE -- WEEK OF NOVEMBER 6 -- WHEELER MIDDLE SCHOOL

Thanks to everyone who supported our Domino's Pizza Night last week!

WEDNESDAY, NOV 1 - WEDNESDAY, NOV 15:  Time to collect non-perishable canned food items for our annual Thanksgiving food drive!  For every three items donated, students will receive a dunk tank ticket!  The dunk tank event will be held on Wednesday, November 22, during lunch and Advisory.  Donated items will be given to the Hawaii Food Bank and the Schofield YMCA.

WEDNESDAY, NOV 8:  This is an EVEN day; students go to their even-numbered periods, plus Homeroom and Advisory.

WEDNESDAY, NOV 8:  Recognition of Champions.  Eligible students (all A's and B's and NO disciplinary actions during first quarter) should have received an invitation for their parents to attend the ceremony on November 8.  If you feel that your student is eligible for this recognition and you did NOT receive an invitation, please email me and I can check into it for you.  Parents can also log on to Infinite Campus to check their student's grades to verify eligibility.

FRIDAY, NOV 10:  Veteran's Day -- No School.

SATURDAY, NOV 11:  Last volleyball games -- games begin at 8:00 am and will be held at Leilehua High School.  Please come out and support our student-athletes, cheerleaders, and coaches!

SATURDAY, NOV 11:  PTSO will host its 5th annual holiday bazaar, from 9:00 - 1:00 in our cafeteria.  Vendors may rent 8' of cafeteria table space or a 10' x 10' space outside for $30.  Please contact PTSO (ptso.wheeler.middle.hi@gmail.com) for more information.   As of today, the following direct sales vendors have secured their space at the bazaar (this is in addition to private businesses):  Usborne Books, DoTerra Essential Oils, LuLaRoe, Scentsy, Jamberry, Thirty-One, Lemongrass Spa, SeneGence Intl, Shop Stevie, Young Living Essential Oils, Monat, and Paparazzi Accessories.  Our hula dance group and band will be performing too!  LAST DAY TO SIGN UP AS A VENDOR IS THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9.  Please see attached flyer!  If you'd like to help with bazaar set up on Friday afternoon, or with the bazaar on the day of, please email Tami at tami.kreft@wheelermiddle.k12.hi.us, no later than Thursday at 3:00 pm.  

TUESDAY, NOV 14:  PTSO meeting at 3:00 pm in the IRC (Library).
