LAST EMAIL UPDATE!! -- WEEK OF MAY 28 -- WHEELER MIDDLE SCHOOL
Aloha everyone! Hard to believe this school year is already coming to a close! Hope you all have a great summer! If there's anything at all I can do for you, please don't hesitate to ask! I'm always on email and although I don't officially 'work' during the summer, I'm around and can always get info for you as needed!
Last week, our 7th graders organized a "Walk for Water" fundraising event, where their focus was to raise funds to help provide clean water to the residents of a small village in Kenya. The amount raised through this event and several prior fundraisers was enough to provide ten families with enough clean water to last three years! Way to go, Wheeler 7th graders! Please take a look at the video created to showcase this event: Walk for Water - 5:23.mp4
YEARBOOKS: Yearbooks are still available: $35 (cash only, please). Students can purchase a yearbook from Ms. Lee in Room D-6, during recess.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 30: This is an EVEN day; students go to their even-numbered periods, plus Homeroom and Advisory.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 30: 6th grade Clean Card Activity Day -- iTrampoline!
WEDNESDAY, MAY 30: 8th-grade graduation at 5:00 pm in the field behind our school. Students must be at school by 4:15 pm. PTSO will be selling candy leis ($4 each, or 3 for $10), water, and candy before and during graduation.
THURSDAY, MAY 31: Activity Day and last day of school for students! Students will be dismissed at 12:15 pm.
SUMMER NEWS: There will be a GenCyber Camp at Leilehua High School this summer (July 9-13, 2018). Targeted students are those in grades 8-10, so our current 7th and 8th graders are eligible to participate! This camp is aimed at students who may have an interest in Cyber Security, but who have zero experience. There are slots for 30 students, but it's open to all schools in our district; if your child is interested, please register as soon as possible. This is FREE to attend, and lunch will be provided. Please see attached flyer for registration information.
PTSO NEWS:
PTSO BOARD OPENINGS: We have several board positions open for next school year; please see attached flyer for more information. There are so many things our PTSO does for our school (and your students!); please consider volunteering some of your time so we can continue to do great things!
DONATION DRIVE (now through May 30): Help PTSO raise money to continue to support our amazing staff and students! Donate items you no longer want or need and we'll sell them! Whatever doesn't sell will be donated to Savers Thrift Store, who will pay us by the pound for our donations! No large items, furniture, car seats, mattresses, or weapons, please!
