Happy Teachers and Staff Appreciation Week! Our PTSO has been hard at work planning activities for our amazing teachers and staff! A huge THANK YOU to our WMS staff for everything you do for our students!
MONDAY, MAY 7: Take advantage of our NEW meal payment program! You can now check your child's school meal account balance online, as well as make payments with a credit or debit card. Please see attached letter, which details the program and provides information on how you can create an online account!
WEDNESDAY, MAY 9: This is an ODD day; students go to their odd-numbered periods, plus Homeroom and Advisory
THURSDAY, MAY 10 & FRIDAY, MAY 11: Mother's Day Pop-Up Shop will be available to students in Room B-1, during lunch. Student Council will be selling items for students to purchase for Mother's Day (shhhhh......don't tell mom ;) )
WEDNESDAY, MAY 16: Throwback Spirit Day! Students can earn spirit points for their homeroom by wearing clothes from previous spirit days.
STUDENT DUES/END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES: Please make sure your child's student dues have been paid; students whose dues have not been paid may not be eligible to participate in some year-end activities (e.g., 8th-grade banquet and graduation). You may check with the office (305-9000) if you're not sure if dues were paid (these are usually paid at the time of registration -- $15 for the year; dues are pro-rated if a student came to Wheeler later in the school year).
To parents/guardians of upcoming 7th graders: Beginning last year, all 7th graders were required to complete a physical exam, according to state law. The first day of instruction for school year 2018-19 for Wheeler Middle School will be August 6, 2018. Please plan ahead and schedule school physical appointments early to ensure your child's physical exam is complete before the new school year begins. Please see attachment for more information. You may also visit www.hawaiipublicschools.org and search for 'Physical Exam.'
PTSO NEWS:
PTSO BOARD OPENINGS: We will have several board positions open for next school year; please see attached flyer for more information. There are so many things our PTSO does for our school (and your students!); please consider volunteering some of your time so we can continue to do great things!
DONATION DRIVE (now through May 31): Help PTSO raise money to support our amazing staff and students! Donate items you no longer want or need and we'll sell them! Whatever doesn't sell will be donated to Savers Thrift Store, who will pay us by the pound for our donations! No large items, furniture, car seats, mattresses, or weapons, please! BOX TOPS DRAWING: We are still collecting Box Tops! Tape or glue them (no staples, please) to an entry form for an opportunity to win a $25 gift card to iTunes, Game Stop, Amazon, or the Exchange! We will have our last drawing on May 25! Entry forms are available in the office (and the bucket is on the counter for you to drop off entry forms)!
LOOKING AHEAD:
FRIDAY, MAY 25: 7th grade Clean Card Activity Day -- Polynesian Cultural Center! 7th-grade parents: please be on the lookout for an information sheet and permission slip (going home tomorrow) that you'll need to sign and return to school no later than Tuesday, May 15.
MONDAY, MAY 28: No school -- Memorial Day
TUESDAY, MAY 29: 8th-grade banquet (during the school day)
WEDNESDAY, MAY 30: 6th grade Clean Card Activity Day -- iTrampoline! 6th-grade parents: please be sure to return your signed permission slip (along with $10 payment) no later than Wednesday, May 16.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 30: 8th-grade graduation
THURSDAY, MAY 31: Activity Day and last day of school for students! Students will be dismissed at 12:15 pm.
