EMAIL UPDATE -- WEEK OF JANUARY 29 -- WHEELER MIDDLE SCHOOL



The DOE's School Food Services Branch is transitioning our electronic meal accounting system to a new system (Harris School Solutions eTrition).  Please see the attached letter providing detailed information about how this will affect your child's lunch payments.  If you are currently making online deposits through schoolcafe, and have the recurring automatic deposit feature enabled, please log in and turn that feature off.  

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31:  This is an EVEN day; students go to their even-numbered periods, plus Homeroom and Advisory.
  
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31:  Recognition of Champions.  If you feel that your child qualifies for this recognition (must have all A's and B's on 2nd quarter report card, and no disciplinary issues), and you did NOT receive an invitation, please let me know and I can check into it for you!

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31:  Planner Cover Contest entries are due (please turn in to the school office). Artwork must be original (hand drawn or digital as long as the images are the student's original work); artwork must include all GLOs; three gift cards will be awarded -- 1st place=$50; 2nd place=$30; 3rd place=$20.  Winners will be announced on February 14.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1 Domino's Pizza Night!   Please consider placing an order from the Schofield Domino's store to support our school!  We earn ten percent profit of their total sales for the entire day!   Take the night off from cooking for a good cause!  Orders must be placed through the Schofield store for us to receive credit!

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7:  3rd quarter progress reports will be sent home with students.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12:  Teacher Institute Day -- no school for students.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13:  PTSO Meeting at 3:00 pm in the IRC (Library).

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19:   No school -- President's Day.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24:  This is an ODD day; students go to their odd-numbered periods, plus Homeroom and Advisory.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24Invitations for our quarterly Recognition of Champions will be distributed during Homeroom.  If you feel that your child is qualified to attend this recognition ceremony and does NOT receive an invitation, please let me know and I can check into it for you.  Students must have all A's and B's (and S's) and no disciplinary issues for 2nd quarter in order to qualify.  Recognition ceremony will be held next Wednesday, January 31.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 25 & FRIDAY, JANUARY 26:  Student Council Valentine's Day balloons and carnations presales.  Students may order balloons or carnations (pink or red) to be delivered to a friend on Valentine's Day.  Students may go to Room B-1 during Recess or Lunch to place their orders.  Balloons cost $1.50 for a 4" balloon, and $2.50 for a 9" balloon.  Carnations are $2.50 per stem (with baby's breath).

SATURDAY, JANUARY 27:  Please come support our basketball players, coaches, and cheerleaders as they play against Moanalua at Radford High School:

  9:30 - 7th grade boys

This week's basketball schedule

EMAIL UPDATE -- WEEK OF JANUARY 15 -- WHEELER MIDDLE SCHOOL

FRIDAY, JANUARY 19:  Parent Engagement Workshop, 9-4, at the Hawaii Convention Center.  This workshop, sponsored by "Parents for Public Schools Hawaii," will provide training and tools to support parental involvement in schools and give parents a voice in education issues.

Happy New Year everyone!   Hope you all had an enjoyable and restful holiday!  

We'd like to bid a fond farewell to a couple of teachers who left Wheeler at the end of the year (Ms. Brenda Galan and Ms. Joye Hanabusa) and welcome new teachers joining our staff (Ms. Chelsey O'Connor and Ms. Erica Woolridge).

TUESDAY, JANUARY 9School starts for students!  3rd quarter begins; new bell schedule in effect.  See attached bell schedule for more information.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 9PTSO meeting at 3:00 in the IRC (Library).

Great News!  Congratulations to Ms. Cheryl Lee's business classes, who entered American Savings Bank's 2017 Bank for Education KeikiCo Business Plan Competition and won a special mention award, worth $2500!  A representative from ASB came to present the award to the students during our assembly on the last day of last semester.
