EMAIL UPDATE -- WEEK OF APRIL 30 -- WHEELER MIDDLE SCHOOL

Happy Monday everyone!

STUDENT DUES/END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES:  Please make sure your child's student dues have been paid; students whose dues have not been paid may not be eligible to participate in some year-end activities (e.g., 8th grade banquet and graduation).  You may check with the office (305-9000) if you're not sure if dues were paid (these are usually paid at the time of registration -- $15 for the year; dues are pro-rated if a student came to Wheeler later in the school year).

YEARBOOKS
:  Yearbooks are
still available:
$35 (cash only, please).  We have a limited amount of extras, so if you'd like to ensure your child gets one, don't delay!  Please stop by the main office or send in money with your student (students can see Ms Lee in Room D-6).

To parents/guardians of upcoming 7th graders:  Beginning last year, all 7th graders were required to complete a physical exam, according to state law.  The first day of instruction for school year 2018-19 for Wheeler Middle School will be August 6, 2018.  Please plan ahead and schedule school physical appointments early to ensure your child's physical exam is complete before the new school year begins.   Please see attachment for more information.  You may also visit www.hawaiipublicschools.org and search for 'Physical Exam.'

TUESDAY, MAY 1 PTSO meeting at 3:00 pm, in Room P-7.  This will be our last meeting for this school year!  We would LOVE to see parents join us as we show our teachers and staff our appreciation for all that they do for our students!  We could really use your help in making this year's Teacher Appreciation Week a huge success!

WEDNESDAY, MAY 2:  This is an EVEN day; students go to their even-numbered class periods, plus Homeroom and Advisory.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 2:  Twin Day (school spirit day)!  Students are encouraged to dress like someone (or more than one person) in their Homeroom to earn spirit points for their class!

WEDNESDAY, MAY 2 Track meet at Mililani High School (9:00-12:00).

THURSDAY, MAY 3 Domino's pizza night (and day)!  Please help support our last Domino's fundraiser for this school year!  Domino's has always been very generous, by giving us ten percent of their sales for the entire day!   This money goes to fund multiple events for our students and staff throughout the year!  All you have to do is place an order from the SCHOFIELD Domino's!  Thanks for your continued support!

PTSO NEWS:

Teacher and staff appreciation week is the second week in May.  Our PTSO would like to recognize our amazing group of teachers and staff and could use some help from parents!   We have several events planned for our staff (breakfast on Monday, lunch on Wednesday, plus other activities throughout the week).  If you'd like to help (breakfast or lunch donations) or would like to make a gift card donation, please contact the PTSO directly at ptso.wheeler.middle.hi@gmail.com, or simply reply to this email.  If you'd like to donate snack items (individual bags of chips, candy, soda, water bottles, nuts, granola bars, (snacks that don't need refrigeration), that would help as well!   We have contacted local area businesses for donations as well, but anything you'd like to donate would be very much appreciated!   Thank you so much to families who have already made donations (there is still time to donate if you'd like)!   See attached letter that was sent home a couple of weeks ago.

EMAIL UPDATE -- WHEELER MIDDLE SCHOOL -- TO PARENTS OF 7TH GRADERS

I meant to add this to my email update:

7th graders who will be at Wheeler next school year and would like the opportunity to become a Student Council Officer, should go to Room B1 (Mrs. Morimoto) tomorrow (Tuesday, April 24) at 12:05 to get more information.  Current officers will be there to answer questions, and ONLY students who attend the meeting will be able to pick up an application packet.  Interested students should see Mrs. Morimoto BEFORE lunch tomorrow if they need a pass to take their school lunch to the meeting.

Students were given this information via the morning bulletin, but I wanted to make sure parents were aware of this opportunity as well!
